We ship a small plugin so non-technical teams can use Verifact immediately:
- Install the ZIP via Plugins → Add New → Upload.
- In Settings → VeriFact, set API Base URL to
https://your-domain.com/verifact. - Add the shortcode
[verifact]to any page or post.
The plugin adds a clean UI: paste a claim (or a prompt+answer), click Check, and see verdicts and evidence. Under the hood, the plugin calls a WP REST route that proxies to your FastAPI endpoint, avoiding CORS issues and keeping your backend private.

Extending Verifact for your domain
While Wikipedia is a great default for general knowledge, you can add your own corpora:
- Local PDFs, knowledge bases, or product docs. Chunk and embed them with the same MiniLM model; store vectors in FAISS (or your favorite vector DB).
- News or scientific sources. Add retrieval wrappers for vetted feeds and filter by date.
- Organization facts. Maintain a curated set of “golden facts” your team updates; give them retrieval priority.
Because Verifact separates retrieval from verification, you can swap sources without touching the NLI logic.
Guardrails, privacy, and what Verifact will—and will not—do
We are opinionated about safety:
- Probabilistic, not definitive. Verifact returns a stance with a confidence score; it doesn’t declare absolute truth. Use it to prioritize human review, not replace it for high-stakes topics.
- Claims, not people. The system evaluates statements, not intentions. It doesn’t determine whether a specific individual “lied.”
- Transparent evidence. We link to sources so humans can check the context and decide whether the snippet truly addresses the claim.
- PII and sensitive content. Don’t submit personal/sensitive information. Verifact is optimized for public, encyclopedic knowledge by default.
- Bias awareness. Source diversity matters. For sensitive areas, we recommend adding multiple independent, authoritative sources and tracking disagreements.
What teams are building with Verifact
- Editor workflows: A pre-publish “fact pass” that flags claims with low confidence and links to sources for an editor’s quick review.
- Support guardrails: Gate model answers to customers: if confidence is below a threshold or stance is ambiguous, escalate to a human agent.
- Internal QA: Run nightly checks on knowledge snippets or FAQ entries to catch drift and broken facts.
- Model eval dashboards: Score experiment runs on factuality using claim-level metrics (accuracy, F1, simple calibration error), and view disagreements with evidence in one place.
Roadmap
- More retrievers. News, scientific literature, and domain-specific corpora with temporal filtering.
- Judger ensemble. Combine NLI with LLM judges and coverage heuristics for better calibration.
- Human-in-the-loop UI. Accept/override evidence and push corrections back to source docs.
- Org-specific knowledge packs. Turn a folder of docs into an indexed corpus with freshness checks and deduplication.
- Analytics & alerts. Track noisy topics and notify editors when confidence drops on frequently asked claims.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a GPU?
No. The default models run well on CPU. 1–2 vCPUs and 2–4 GB RAM is a good starting point.
Is FacTool required?
No. It’s optional. With FacTool, Verifact extracts claims and queries more intelligently and can blend in web evidence. Without it, Verifact still works on single claims.
Can I deploy on other platforms?
Yes—Docker makes it portable to ECS, Cloud Run, Azure Container Apps, Fly.io, or a plain VM.
Can I add my own documents?
Absolutely. Point the retriever at your content and (optionally) keep Wikipedia as a fallback.
Does Verifact give legal/medical advice?
No. For those domains, treat results as a triage tool and escalate to qualified experts.
